Hotel Catalonia Royal la Romana and Excursions (2017 10 22)
The Hotel Catalonia Royal is not a typical beach hotel. "Adult only" is only related to the building part. The beach area is public in the Dominican Republic.
The hotel rooms are located about 300 meters from the beach in the interior. 2 Electric trolleys are available, but are very sporadic.
On the beach there were far too few umbrellas. Also beach chairs were not sufficiently available. From a 4-star hotel, as shown in the travel brochure, we expected more.
We were very surprised by the restaurants. Very good service and very good quality of food and drinks. Only at the restaurant Rodeo with the excellent steaks, the reception for the guests of the Catalonia Royal MUST be improved. Cocky receptionists do not contribute to a happy holiday mood.
The weather was very sunny at the beginning and hot. In the following days more clouds came with small and larger downpours. The water temperature was between 26 ° C and 28 ° C.
Several times we booked a tourist taxi for excursions. The prices were OK!
